The next event is our Spring Show on 11 April 2026 3pm
“WELCOME” from all of the Garden Society Committee.
A warm welcome to members old and new, and especially to anyone recently moved to the area.
Our shows are a great way to get to know our local villagers and neighbours in Lower Hardres and Nackington and the surrounding villages.
We were very pleased to welcome some new members last year but also sad to have to say goodbye to some of our regulars who will be missed.
We have a new show schedule for 2025, with classes to interest everyone, both adults and children including some Open Classes for non-members.
We have some inspiring new titles for Floral Art and Photography and some new challenges for the Children. Newcomers’ entries are particularly welcome, so please just have a go – the more entries there are, the better the show!
We would like to thank all those who take time to exhibit, make cakes and serve refreshments and those who support our shows by coming along.
We are also very grateful to those that help make the Summer Show such a success by assisting with setting up and manning the stalls and activities. Without these helpers we could not organise such a show which enables us to raise funds for charity. Last year our charity was The Kent Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre and we were very pleased to be able to donate £500 to this very worthy local cause. They remain our Charity for 2025.
Again, this year sees some changes to our committee: Graham and Maggie Brown have stepped down to concentrate on new and exciting commitments. They have both been invaluable members of the Committee, Graham as the all-important Show Secretary (despite often claiming that he knows nothing about gardening!) and Maggie serving in many ways behind the scenes. Her artistic skills and her inspiration when compiling the Show Schedule, among other things have been much appreciated. Their input will be greatly missed. Unfortunately, Donna Potlog is no longer able to take over the role of Show Secretary from Graham.
We are very pleased to welcome Sharon Underwood onto the Committee, we are sure she will be a great addition and are looking forward to working with her.
However, this still leaves us with too few on the committee and we would very much like to welcome additional new members with fresh ideas to keep our society invigorated and relevant for our community into the future.
If you would like to help with the shows or join our committee please contact a member of the committee, all offers of help will be gratefully received!
We particularly want to thank Pharon Independent Financial Advisers for their continued generous sponsorship and for the support of our local business advertisers. Such support is invaluable to our Society.
